As an Independent Advocacy Officer your responsibilities will include:

- Working with people with a range of needs including learning difficulties, physical and sensory impairments, mental health issues, acquired brain injuries, older people, and unpaid carers
- Supporting and empowering individuals to say what they want, secure their rights, pursue their interests and obtain the services they need
- Working with people in a range of settings including care homes, community settings and people’s homes
- Providing a response to referrals, dealing with case paperwork, and assist advocacy clients at meetings and assessments etc.
- Maintain records and administration systems, attend, and manage meetings, work with confidential information

To be successful in the Independent Advocacy Officer role, you will need to have:

- Demonstrable experience in a similar Advocacy role
- The ability to communicate fluently in Welsh and English - both written and verbal
- Some understanding of social care legislation (eg SSWBA, MCA and DoLS) and how it affects people
- Effective communication skills with a range of people with different needs, with an understanding of issues for people who are disabled or people who have faced social exclusion
- Good IT and administration skills, proficient with Microsoft Office
- Able to prioritise and work to deadlines
- Current valid driving licence and ability to travel within the geographical work area as required

This is a full-time fixed term contract up until March 2023 (with the possibility of an extension). This is a hybrid role with a combination of home based and office days located in Bangor, Gwynedd, plus travelling to different sites as required. In exchange you will receive an annual salary of £21,500 - £23,500 per annum (pro-rata) depending on skills and experience.
