Stroud, United Kingdom National Trust Full time

Do you want to play your part in delivering something really special in the Cotswold countryside?

As one of our team of Rangers, you’ll be helping us to deliver one of the National Trust’s most pioneering partnership-based conservation projects. The Stroud Landscape Project is thinking big, and the scale of the work is even bigger. Wildflower grasslands are already being created, ancient woodlands restored, and important wildlife corridors established.

You’ll play a crucial role in the delivery of the project while also supporting the whole outdoor team to ensure excellent standards of care, presentation and conservation are maintained across our portfolio of places. You'll not only be delivering great conservation work on our land, but you will also support the project team to make more space for nature beyond our boundaries too by working with local landowners and partners.

What it's like to work here:The Stroud Landscape Project is part of a collaborative multi-million-pound funding proposal to National Highways Designated Funds. With stretching habitat restoration and creation ambitions, the funding will allow us to accelerate the delivery of this great project.

The Cotswolds is an amazing place to work, and we care for a real diverse range of sites. The area has a rich history, and you will experience this through the landscape, the communities and the built environment. From internationally important grassland and woodland Grade I listed buildings and parkland, there's a lot to get excited about. That's why our team is so motivated and enthusiastic. You will always be ready to go the extra mile and support colleagues to achieve great things.

This is a brilliant opportunity for you to develop your skills and experience to make a positive difference in the Stroud landscape. Your enthusiasm, pace and passion for your work will shine through in all you do.

What you'll be doing:You’ll have a passion for delivering great conservation, quality engagement, positive partnerships and working safely. You will love practical, hands-on work, where you'll be able to see the results of your efforts. You’ll work directly with the project team as well as be an important, supportive member of the whole ranger team. You’ll work across our full portfolio of places, bringing positivity and energy.

If you like variety, this could be the role for you. No two days are the same. You could be helping to harvest and sow wildflower seed one day and completing baseline habitat surveys the next. Checking our in-hand conservation grazing herd of Belted Galloway cattle to repairing fence lines and pathways. In this role, you’ll work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings and be on-call.
