Do you want to play your part in delivering something really special in the Cotswold countryside?

As one of our team of Area Rangers, you’ll be helping us to deliver one of the National Trust’s most pioneering partnership-based conservation projects. The Stroud Landscape Project is thinking big, and the scale of the work is even bigger. Wildflower grasslands are already being created, ancient woodlands restored, and important wildlife corridors established. You’ll play a crucial role in the delivery of the project while also supporting the whole outdoor team to ensure excellent standards of care, presentation and conservation are maintained across our portfolio of places.

You'll not only be delivering great conservation work on our land, but you'll also support the project team to make more space for nature beyond our boundaries too by working with local landowners and partners.

What it's like to work here:The Stroud Landscape Project is part of a collaborative multi-million-pound funding proposal to National Highways Designated Funds. With stretching habitat restoration and creation ambitions, the funding will allow us to accelerate the delivery of this great project. What you'll be doing:Leading by example, you’ll have a passion for delivering great conservation and quality engagement. You'll build positive partnerships with others, including landowners and stakeholders. You’ll also have a strong eye for compliance and risk management. You’ll work directly with the project team as well as be an important, supportive member of the whole ranger team.

You’ll work across our full portfolio of places, bringing positivity and energy. Working closely with the Stroud Landscape Project’s Delivery Manager and under their guidance, you may lead on small workstreams to accelerate the project’s delivery. Being a people person, you’ll also take a lead in the coordination and management of the project’s team of volunteers. You'll be comfortable engaging and managing contractors, always with an eye for nature and how people engage with our places.
**In this role, you’ll work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings and be on-call.**

Who we're looking forTo deliver this role successfully, you will need to;
- Have practical experience of countryside/rural skills
- Have evidence of good people management and leadership
- Have excellent communication skills including public presentation
- Have strong organisational skills including work programming
- Have a proven track record of managing and leading on health and safety and environmental compliance
- Have a full UK Driving licence
- Be able to manage contractors and small projects, including budgets.

And you'll need to demonstrate the following experience on your CV/Application;
- Diploma/NVQ3 or higher in countryside or environmental conservation
- Have good wildlife identification skills
- Habitat and species surveying experience
- Empathy with, and significant experience of, working with volunteers
