Teaching Assistant Level 2

**About The Role**:
**Contract Type**: Fixed Term, Term Time Only (39 weeks)**
**Working **Hours**: Full Time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday**
**Number of Positions: 2 (1 in Reception and 1 in the ARC)**
**Qualifications Required: GSCE Grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)**
**Salary: £11.61 per hour**

We are seeking to appoint a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to work 1 to 1 with a Reception pupil and another Level 2 Teaching Assistant to work 1 to 1 or with groups in our specialist provision for autistic pupils.

- Essential qualities for the role include:
- Having experience of working 1:1 with children who require early communication support
- Having an understanding of children with social, communication and interaction needs
- Being aware of different ways of communicating and understanding barriers to communication

**Desirable** qualities include:
- Having experience of speech and language support programmes
- Having knowledge of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age
- Numeracy/literacy skills (at a level equivalent to NQF Level 2)
- Completion of the Teaching Assistant Induction Programme
- Ability to relate well to children and adults
- Ability to work as part of a team
- An understanding of the role of the Teaching Assistant and other professionals working in the classroom
- Ability to use relevant technology eg photocopier
- Understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies
- Basic understanding of child development and learning
- Willingness to undertake minor first aid training as appropriate
- Tact and diplomacy in all interpersonal relationships with the public, pupils and colleagues at work
- Self motivation and personal drive to complete tasks to the required timescales and quality standards
- The flexibility to adapt to changing workload demands and new school challenges
- Personal commitment to ensure that the provision of support is equally accessible and appropriate to meet the diverse needs of the pupils
- Personal commitment to continuous self-development
- A commitment to school improvement
