An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deaf Services Assessment Support Officer position within our small Medway Deaf Services Team. This is a full-time permanent position.

This post would work alongside our existing and experienced assessment and support worker and sits within a supportive locality-based Adults Social Work team.

This role would involve going into the community to assess adults who are deaf, become deaf and those whose first language is British Sign Language BSL. The role would involve assessing and providing equipment and support to those people and to work alongside community and health organisations to promote the service and advocate and promote the interests of the people we serve.

We are looking for someone with a BSL qualification preferably, but this is not essential. We would ideally like them to have experience of assessing for equipment, however we would consider people who have an interest and experience in working with people who are deaf, whether in a personal or professional capacity and can provide evidence of this as well as someone who is willing to learn and develop in this area of our work. We are searching for someone who is passionate about this service, shows initiative and innovation in their approach and who has enthusiasm to develop and improve the service.
