Deskside Engineer

**Vertex IT Solutions are pleased to announce that we are recruiting for an experienced Deskside Engineer**

Our client is a large MSP and this role is based on site with one of their high profile clients

To be considered for this role you must hold valid SC clearance

**Responsibilities**
- To carry out other tasks as requested by Team Leader
- Floor walking during P1 incidents to ensure users are aware of issues and progress
- Re
- imaging of laptop with a standard build
- Provide a "Laptop Health Check" service where customers can schedule time to have their laptop checked to proactively avoid any issues
- Provide printer support and advice
- Providing advice and support for Microsoft Suite
- Provision of basic training to users
- Integrating hardware replacement requests into the standard replacement process
- Assisting with iPad use/issues
- Windows 10 tablets support
- Mobile phones: Demonstration of functionality of handset to the users
- SharePoint Support
- Printing: Advising users on setting up a printer
- Video Conferencing (VC) and Meeting Room: basic support and room checks
- Arranging special events, e.g. Board Meetings etc (off site support)
- Windows 10
- Providing remote support for tickets where users not at the base location
- Identify potential service improvements

Knowledge / Skills
- PC literate
- Customer liaison skills
- Interpretation of data & actions

- Windows OS literate
- Basic knowledge of Server OS and navigation if needed as eyes and ears for smart hands calls
- Experience with Active Directory (not essential)
- Basic hardware knowledge, Laptop Keyboards, Memory, Hard drives
- Experience with network fault troubleshooting
- Experience with Network builds
- Experience with network printer installs and configuration
- Experience with Microsoft O365
- Experience with VPN and remote work on machines
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 and Azure administration
- Good troubleshooting skills

Experience
- IT engineering experience - 2 years
- A good understanding of analytical troubleshooting
- A good understanding of networks and windows Operating systems
- Must be able to diagnose and repair desktops and laptops
- Desktop and laptop accreditation desirable
- Knowledge of specific customer software
