The Gastrointestinal Radiology Services are based on a strong ethos of Quality Assurance, Audit, Evidence and Research. The GI Radiologists are currently recruiters for five national and international multicentre studies, with grants for 2 local trials in progress. Areas of recent service improvement include expansion of the RIG service, expansion of the cancer intervention service, delivery of a large CTC service, 3T body MRI scanning, and a static PET scanner.

The appointed Fellow will gain extensive experience in the following subspecialty areas: Colorectal, hepatobiliary/pancreas, Oesophago-gastric, Inflammatory bowel disease, Gastrointestinal diseases, Oncology, Trauma imaging and Acute inpatient body imaging. Weekly training sessions in multimodality cross-sectional imaging, MRI, CT, US, image-guided procedures and CT colonography. Additionally, the successful applicant will be involved in GI-specific fluoroscopy and pelvic floor imaging. Rotations through PET can be arranged if desired. There will be flexibility to accommodate individual interests and expertise. The fellow is expected to prepare for and support Colorectal, IBD, CUP, Upper GI and HPB Cancer MDT meetings.

There are extensive academic opportunities for Fellows. Involvement in research is an expectation of the Fellowship program and up to one day per week is given as protected academic time.

The University Hospital is the main teaching hospital for the Keele University Undergraduate Medical School and there are close ties with the University of Keele and Staffordshire University.

Research is a growing area of activity. A specialised research team within the department will help support research, studies and collaboration with other centres and the industry.

We are the number one ranked trauma unit in the country and a Clinical Fellow job here will provide great exposure to acute body radiology imaging.
