**The Role**

Birmingham is in an unprecedented period of transformation change. As a consequence of the City’s economic growth, regeneration and transformation there has been significant increase in the street works activity on our highway network. It is anticipated that there will be further major utility works, new developments, and transportation projects over the coming years in order to accommodate future growth.

The post holder will report to one of the Permit Team Leaders. As part of their day-to-day duties, they will be based on site with an allocated workload to visit specific works and assess the sites to ensure compliance. They will also be on the lookout for illegal occupation of the highway and report accordingly. Working closely with Coordination Officers, they will ensure that the Works Promoters are adhering to their permit conditions and ensure the effective operation of Birmingham’s Permit Scheme.

Based on site you will work with the permitting team and using that attention to detail, you’ll ensure compliance from our contractors. Using those great customer service skills you will liaise with different stakeholders and get the best outcomes for our highways, residents of Birmingham of be part of our ambitious economic growth.
