**Learning Support Assistant**

Learning Support Assistant

Full Time - Long term until end of July 2023

Salary - £85 - £100 per day

30 hours per week.

Our Primary School is looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to support a pupil with medical needs in our school. This role is initially for one year; however, this could be extended depending on an annual review of funding.

**In Supporting Teaching and learning the post holder will**:

- Assist in the educational and social development of an individual pupil with a medical need under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, SENCO and class teacher;
- Assist in the implementation of the targets identified in the statement and individual education plan for the pupil and help monitor their progress;
- Provide support for the individual pupil inside and outside the classroom to enable him to fully participate in appropriate activities;
- Support the pupil to ensure he can access the curriculum;
- Support the development of the pupil’s social skills;
- Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs;
- Encourage all children to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher;
- Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self esteem and independence;
- Provide feedback to pupils and staff in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher;
- Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals;
- Assist with the planning of learning activities;
- Work with other professionals, such as diabetic nurse;
- Assist class teachers with maintaining the pupils records and assessments;
- Ensure health and safety of pupil at all times, reporting any concerns immediately to class teacher or head teacher.
