We have an exciting opportunity for a **Legal Advisor** to join our In-House Legal Team on a **fixed term basis for 12 months**. This is a **part time role, working 30 hours per week over 4 or 5 days **and will be based from our office in Basingstoke with the flexibility for some remote working too.

**What you'll be doing**

You'll provide high quality and result orientated legal advice to individuals and departments across the business, ensuring the legal team provides excellent customer focused legal services to all its customers and clients.

As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for your own caseload of legal cases, as well as providing project and administrative support to the legal team. The main focus of the role will be carrying out legal work relating to the strategic asset management of Sovereign's property portfolio, working closely with the Strategic Asset Management team. Your work will be varied and will include:

- Dealing with the sale of small areas of land, variations of restrictive covenants and requests for rights of way
- Adverse possession claims
- Requests for deeds of easement
- Requests for wayleaves

**What we need from you**

To be successful in this busy role you'll need to have previous experience working within a legal firm or other in-house environment as a paralegal. Ideally, you'll have experience from within housing or local authority but it's not essential if you have an understanding of conveyancing or property portfolios. You'll also need:

- Knowledge and experience of dealing with matters that relate to property transactions, conveyancing, and/or the ownership and proper management of a property portfolio
- A high attention to detail with the ability to work flexibly to deliver our service
- A logical and organised approach to your workload, skilled in problem solving and able to provide practical and lawful solutions in a variety of practice areas
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with good legal drafting skills
- Strong IT skills, including experience using Outlook, MS Word and MS Teams

Ideally, you will have a qualification in property law or an equivalent level of knowledge gained from employment. You might have a law degree, Graduate Diploma in Law or have completed / be in the process of studying the Legal Practice Course or pursuing a qualification as a member of CILEX or a similar body.
