**Student Recruitment Officer**

Communications and Marketing are seeking a Student Recruitment Officer to contribute to a range of activity to support the recruitment of undergraduate students from the UK to the University.- You will focus on a number of core strategic and operational activities within UK student recruitment including the confirmation and clearing call centre operation and undergraduate open days, and will be required to maintain and develop a knowledge and awareness of the entire portfolio of undergraduate recruitment activity and undergraduate provision.
- You will work under the direction of the Deputy Head of UK Student Recruitment and based within the Schools Liaison team but will work closely with colleagues in the wider UK student recruitment department, in particular the Undergraduate Events team, Postgraduate Recruitment team, Widening Participation team and Marketing team, as well as colleagues in University’s colleges and academic schools.
- The role will require a flexible approach to working hours. It will include out of hours working and some weekend working. A hybrid working model is in place for the department which includes office working days on a Monday and Tuesday every week.
- There will be some element of manual handling in terms of event set up/breakdown as well as the preparation and distribution of materials for events and mailings.

**Key Duties**

Working flexibly as part of a dedicated team, including some evening and weekend working, you will:

- Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all related Cardiff University information including study opportunities, entry requirements and processes, student fees and finances, teaching methods, accommodation and extracurricular facilities to ensure you are supportive of the recruitment process.
- Proactively seek new opportunities for developing relationships with schools, colleges and relevant external organisations in an allocated region
- Organise and undertake recruitment visits within the UK, with a focus on an allocated region, to assist in the recruitment of UK undergraduate students as determined within the University UK Undergraduate Recruitment Strategy.
- Act as the sole Cardiff representative at a range of UK undergraduate recruitment fairs and exhibitions, ensuring that enquirer data is accurately captured and excellent customer service delivered.
- Deliver a range of activities to support Cardiff’s UK undergraduate student recruitment, including events, seminars, presentations and open day activities.
- Raise the aspirations of students in secondary education from non-traditional backgrounds such that they understand the benefits of higher education and the opportunities available to them.
- Provide professional advice and guidance on recruiting undergraduate students to internal customers.
- Support the successful planning and delivery of the annual clearing call centre operation.
- Support the delivery of communications to teachers and careers advisors, and events for the same audience.
- Organise mailings to the schools and colleges database to promote services offered by the team
- Contribute to the successful delivery of undergraduate open days, supporting the events team.
- Support the Schools Liaison team in their collaborative working with colleagues in academic colleges.
- Support the wider department with a range of other projects as required. These may include postgraduate events and campaigns, campus tours, student ambassador scheme activity and others.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of undergraduate recruitment activities undertaken to inform future activity and strategy.
- Support the implementation of the University’s Welsh language strategy in respect of student recruitment work with schools and colleges.
- Support the continuous improvement of presentations and supporting materials, ensuring that these are targeted to individual school or audience needs.
