This is a proactive investigation team working upstream and across international lines to disrupt and dismantle Organised Crime Groups. You will have the potential to become a surveillance operative operating at the high end of high harm, utilising various investigative techniques to disrupt those that pose the highest risk to the well-being of the UK.

**Borders Investigations (Chelmsford)**

This is a progressive team managing referrals and complex border investigations utilising various investigative techniques, identifying lines of enquiry both nationally and internationally, securing evidence and considering alternative disruption opportunities. You will respond to developing situations and work alongside key partners. This role will be part of a paid on call roster.

**Criminal Justice Taskforce (Chelmsford)**

This taskforce is creating a ring of steel around our borders to disrupt organised crime groups. In this dynamic working environment you must possess the ability to react rapidly to emerging situations. You will be part of a pro-active investigation team with the potential to become a surveillance operative involved in operations targeting the activity of Organised Crime Groups operating at the high end of high harm. This role will be part of a paid on call roster.

**How to learn more about the role**

**On Tuesday 17th January 2023 between 18:30 and 19:30, we will be hosting a MS Teams event where you can hear officers working within the NCA’s Investigations Command discussing the role in detail and be given the opportunity to ask questions.**

**Job description**:
All Investigators will be involved in:
Investigating serious criminality; collecting and developing intelligence and evidence to build and contribute to case file preparations to prosecute offenders.

You will be working closely with other NCA departments and partner agencies to identify threats from criminality and work in a challenging environment to pursue offenders. Using innovative approaches and ground breaking techniques you will be making decisions which help disrupt and bring to justice criminals who present the highest threat to the UK.

You may be expected to work directly or indirectly in tackling child sexual abuse (CSA). This may involve exposure to child sexual abuse images and material. You should consider the sensitive nature of the work before deciding to apply.

**Person specification**:
NCA Investigative teams respond to a broad range of threats including Organised Immigration Crime, Cyber Dependant Crime, Fraud, Human Trafficking, Child Sexual Abuse, Firearms and Drugs, International Corruption Unit, as well as having Internal Professional Standards teams. Investigations are undertaken in a varied and dynamic environment, identifying intelligence and evidential opportunities in support of investigation leads.

**Licences**:

- Full DVLA Driving Licence (Includes Full EU Licences).**Qualifications**:

- Current/Active PIP1 or an equivalent recognised qualification/accreditation in investigative crime issued by a Government body. Please see guidance for applicants within this pack on page 13 for further information on PIP and your eligibility to apply

- Experience of conducting arrests; competent and experienced at interviewing witnesses and suspect (custody time limits/ procedures, extensions and authorisations), use of bad character evidence and bail.
- Experience and knowledge around seizure of exhibits, continuity of evidence, and seize/sift legislation, including experience in disclosure, and scheduling of material, and knowledge of CPIA legislation.
- Experienced and competent in completing case files and liaising with prosecuting agencies or authorities.
