**Shifts**: 2 days, 2 nights shifts, 4 on 4 off (12 hours shifts 7-7)_**.**_

**Location**: Blewbury, Didcot, South Oxfordshire
**Contract Type**:Fixed term to end Oct 24 (Possibility of extension / perm)

**Overall Job Purpose**:
This position is pivotal in representing HM Coroners, where your responsibilities encompass the collection, care, removal, and transport of deceased patients from various scenarios and locations within our geographical operating area. Our goal is to ensure their safe and dignified transfer to designated mortuaries, including Royal Berkshire or Wexham Park Hospital.

**Supportive Role**:
- Be a responsive and empathetic presence for all calls and requests for assistance.
- Conduct safe and professional operations using our company-owned vehicles for 'First Call' removals, adhering to the guidelines provided by HM Coroners Office and EMFS Group policies.
- Maintain the highest standards in preserving the chain of custody, meticulous paperwork, and accurate deceased identification.
- When providing home removal services, interact with bereaved family members courteously and professionally, showing sensitivity to their needs, and leaving a positive impression.
- Follow company procedures for the removal of soiled garments, bedding, or other materials.
- Safely transport deceased individuals to designated mortuaries and adhere to specific procedures upon arrival.
- Be adaptable and willing to assist with additional duties that contribute to enhancing our company's service and presentation.
**Vehicle Maintenance and Presentation**:
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections at the beginning of each shift, including fuel, oils, and coolant levels, and promptly report any bodywork deformities.
- Maintain our company vehicle in pristine condition to uphold a professional image for EMFS.
- Ensure the vehicle is sanitized after each collection and responsibly dispose of medical waste and soiled clothing/linens.
- Identify and report any vehicle or operational defects to the Transport Manager for immediate resolution.
**Equipment and Safety**:
- Keep all vehicle equipment clean and serviceable.
- Maintain a sufficient supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the vehicle and follow appropriate disposal procedures for contaminated items.
**Essential Criteria**:
- **Emotional Strength**: Possess the emotional strength and resilience necessary to work with deceased individuals in various circumstances while maintaining a calm, mature, and compassionate disposition.
- **Team Player**: Ability to work as part of a team on a 4-watch Rota system, including weekends, nights, and Bank Holidays.
- **Physical Fitness**: Maintain the required level of physical fitness/strength for tasks such as lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- **Driving Skills**: Ability to drive in hazardous conditions, heavy traffic, and adverse weather conditions.
- **Administration**: Complete all paperwork and administrative tasks to a high standard. Use Information Technology (IT) as required while adhering to the Data Protection Act 2018. Keep personal records up to date and maintain confidentiality.
**Requirements**:
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Good level of physical fitness, as the role involves heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling duties.
