Sales Director

**JOB PURPOSE**
To improve and grow sales within Maen Karne, the South West’s leading independent supplier of bagged and loose aggregate, local and national haulage, environmental services, muckaway, cement, concrete blocks, ready-mix concrete and flowing screed, and deliver excellence in it’s customer experience.
The Sales Director is a fundamental part of the senior leadership team, and alongside leadership of the internal and external sales and business development teams, will be a key leader, role model and influencer across the whole organisation.
The Sales Director is to develop and implement local strategy and tactics in line with a growth mindset across all business lines. They are also responsible for the revenue and credit performance of Maen Karne focussing on the growth of the brand and market share in the South West and to move the geographic footprint and reach of the business North and East. Building the right team, setting goals and targets, reviewing, following up and analysis of results to repeat the cycle and ensuring adequate training and development of competency is rolled out are key to achieving this.
Included within the role is oversight of Maen Karne’s internal and external communications, marketing, social media, merchandise and branding.
**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**
This is a key role within Maen Karne, with primary responsibilities including:
- Representing and reporting upon the sales activities of the business at board meetings.
- Ensuring that the business and it’s staff uphold the company’s values of Caring, Can Do, Excelling, Inspiring, Developing.
- Developing a business sales strategy that covers 0-1, 1-3 and 3-5 years and focuses on being No1 in People, Customers and Markets.
- Providing excellent health and wellbeing support for our people.
- Overseeing office management.
- Supporting the building of a fun yet tenacious team culture and regularly undertaking team building.
- Working with the senior leadership team, to develop an annual budget in line with the business and group strategies and to re-forecast periodically in line with actual market conditions.
- Setting out clear growth objectives and a process for review and request of capital spend required for both sustaining the business and driving it’s future forwards.
- Being responsible for the revenue performance of the operating business against the company’s strategic plan and budget.
- Building, promoting and maintaining a culture of effective communication with key stakeholders, customers and other parts of the group.
- Looking to instil a culture of best practice and productivity throughout the business’s activities.
- Collecting and utilising industry knowledge, new market opportunities and market and competitor intelligence to secure and grow sales.
- Communicating performance indicators such as pipeline, quotes won/lost and other key indicators at regular intervals to inform activity and allow board reporting.
- Co-ordinating and closely managing internal and external sales activities.
- Supporting the management of the technical sales function.
- Managing key customer relationships inc extensive customer engagement and entertainment as required.
- Managing key supply chain relationships.
- Developing the business including prioritising a network of tips and tipping/recycling or waste transfer solutions and growing all activities both in and out of Cornwall.
- IT and data co-ordination along with process development, improvement and adherence.
- Internal and external comms, sales campaigns, events, social media, marketing, merchandise & branding.
- Ensuring pricing is correct at all times and maintain robust pricing controls.

- Good general knowledge with strong grammatical and mathematical ability is essential.
- Computer skills including sales and finance software and expertise in spreadsheets, presentations and databases.
