You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Energy from Waste Facility. Working days & nights you will be required to work rotating shift patterns that include weekends and public holidays. You will also provide shift cover as required to ensure continuous operation of the Energy from Waste Facility. You will report directly to the Team Leader.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner and in line with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
- Undertake training and develop competence with regards to the Safety Rules.
- Operate the main boiler, turbine and FGT plant from a computer based central control room in accordance with design criteria and facility consents.
- To monitor Facility security through observation of CCTV screens.
- Perform routine plant tests and inspections as required, collecting, recording and collaborating data.
- Be able to assist/implement emergency procedures and instructions calmly and effectively in dynamic situations.
- Monitor stocks of consumables and residues, ensuring correct system operation and safeguarding operational continuity.
- Trim the plant so as to deliver optimum performance.
- Undertake continuing personal development to enhance knowledge & skills relevant to the role.
- Receive and respond to telephone calls in a courteous and concise manner.
- Report defects and safety observation reports on CMMS.
- Execute comprehensive shift handovers at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Carry out other reasonable tasks and duties as requested by management.

When the Team leader is away/unavailable
- To manage emergency situations via the sites Emergency Plan; deal with the relevant stakeholders and emergency services.
- To ensure the facility is operated in full compliance with all warranty and design criteria; planning conditions; environmental permit.
- Maintain and support an effective safety and housekeeping programme, including timely communication of all initiatives.
- To deal courteously and efficiently with any external communications that may arise out of office hours.
- To ensure that only suitable waste is processed, and non-conforming waste is appropriately dealt with.
- To ensure all facility inputs & outputs are processed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Producing detailed incident reports, shift logs and collating all relevant operational data.
- Responsible for maximising the availability and efficiency of the plant and taking proactive measures to improve plant reliability.
- Execute comprehensive shift handovers at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Provide shift cover for other STLs in the event of sickness, holiday or training.

**Experience for the role**:

- Operational experience gained through shift working in a continuous process industry, preferably within the power generation or defence sectors.
- Knowledge of environmental permits, H&S issues, safe working environments, safety rules and outages.
- Exposure to working in demanding and dynamic work environments which demand calm and logical decision making.

**Salary**: £42,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
