**Job summary**:
Thank you for taking an interest in the Secondments Consultant roles, based within Government People Group. Housed at the centre of government within the Cabinet Office, Government People Group works in partnership with Ministers, departments and functions, bringing together HR strategy and expertise to collectively drive forward the Civil Service.

This is a great opportunity to join the Secondments Unit based in the Recruitment and Resourcing Expertise (RaRE) team within Government People Group, a friendly and supportive team of HR professionals working to deliver a number of high priority government reform projects. The role provides an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of supporting key ministerial priorities.

**Job description**:
This role works on priority areas of work within the Secondment Unit. The SEO is responsible for scoping, designing, developing and implementing innovative solutions to key strategic and ministerial priorities.

This involves scoping out work, conducting appropriate analysis and feasibility of activities related to key secondment initiatives ensuring these are evidence based, driven by business need, benchmarked appropriately, and reflect industry best practice. The role will be involved with briefings and communications about the ongoing work to a wide range of audiences across government and externally.

Job responsibilities will include:

- Coordinate and facilitate stakeholder engagement, across government and industry, in consultation with secondments lead to establish good working relationships and strengthen the Unit’s role as the strategic centre for secondments.
- Develop guidance and supporting products, to support and champion best practice delivery of secondments activity across the Civil Service.
- Address secondment and other related queries, and providing consultancy/ partnering support to stakeholders as required.
- Lead on delivering ad hoc projects to meet business needs
- Support the Secondments Unit team leaders to provide briefing and advice with appropriate styles for a wide variety of stakeholders including senior leaders, ministers and external organisations to ministers on secondment activity across the Civil Service and ministerial priorities.
- Collate lessons learnt and undertake continuous improvement of team deliverables, operations and activities
- Line management (to be agreed).
- Lead the Unit’s business as usual stakeholder engagement, including management of the Secondments Hub and Secondments Working Group.
- Oversee the operations of the secondment pilot placement delivery service
- Support the establishment of secondment programmes across government department, functions and professions
- Balance between overarching plan and projects/ workstreams and scope out interlinkages

- Be adaptable, flexible and able to work at pace - meeting regularly changing priorities and contributing to a wide variety of high profile projects, briefings and commissions as required
- Good planning and organisational skills with attention to detail
- High quality written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of managing and delivering multiple projects or initiatives concurrently - with a, proactive and enthusiastic approach
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders and be able to develop and maintain strong and working relationships
