Therapy Assistants support the Stroke Therapy Team to assess, plan and implement interventions to improve the functional ability and well-being of individuals and/or groups. Under the direction of a therapist the post holder will carry out interventions with patients and their carers. Additional responsibilities include administrative tasks required to enable the team to function effectively. Assistants are expected to continually improve their knowledge and skills and work collaboratively with therapy colleagues to enhance patient care.

The post holder will have completed a level II RQF qualification, understand the requirements of rehabilitation and will start to acquire a range of therapy competencies.

**The post holder will**:

- Support the therapist(s) with the assessments of patients
- Contribute to the implementation of treatment programmes with direction from the therapist
- Contribute to the evaluation of programmes and patient’s progression with direction from the
- Work with team members to ensure the effective day to day functioning of the
- Work closely with the multi disciplinary team
- Participate in activities to improve stroke rehabilitation
- Provide support to other team members and students
- Work flexibly according to patient and service needs
