Thorntons’ people are central to our business success and due to continued growth of the Firm we have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join our busy People Team. This is a key role within the team, supporting the operational HR needs of the business with a focus on employee relations.
- Identify, develop and deliver people initiatives which foster a high performance culture, where continuous improvement and diversity are the norm.
- Work with internal stakeholders at all levels, providing advice, guidance and support on all aspects of employee relations based on current employment legislation and best practice, which aligns with Thorntons’ values to ensure a fair and consistent approach to our policies and procedures
- Effective case management of people related issues such as: disciplinaries, performance management, grievance and absence management
- Providing advice and guidance on health and wellbeing
- Lead on maternity, paternity, shared parental and other formal absence requests
- Support the People Operations Manager and the wider People team with submission of management information reports and data to ensure that managers are aware of actions that need to be taken to support the achievement of key organisational objectives.
- Manage the employee exit process
- Review management information and liaise with the wider People team on strategies to support retention
- Produce and analyse HR reports
- Develop great relationships across the business to promote good employee relations across the organisation

**What we’re looking for**
- A background in all aspects of HR with in-depth knowledge of employee relations management including absence, wellbeing, performance, disciplinary and grievance
- A relevant HR qualification is ideal but not essential if you have practical HR experience
- Passionate about implementing best practice in supporting business capability
- Strong interpersonal skills including effective communication, presentation, coaching and influencing skills will be key to your success
- Strong analytical skills which mean you are confident in analysing interpreting and reporting on people data
- A caring and compassionate approach
- Pragmatic and focussed on business needs and results
- Strong and current employment law knowledge
- Good attention to detail
- The ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.
- Able to identify opportunities for improvement
- Effective planning and project management skills, successfully setting and working to both personal and team deadlines
