Hinksey parish have a vacancy for a part time Parish Administrator to assist the Parish Priest in the organisation of the Parish by undertaking various aspects of administration and co-ordination in the Parish Office and the wider area of the Parish.
Hours of work: part-time 11 hours per week, days and times agreed with the Parish Priest.
**Salary**: £11.00 per hour.
**Experience and qualifications required for role**:
- Experienced Administrator with excellent secretarial, time management and prioritisation skills
- People management skills
- Computer literate, skilled in word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets and database management as well as use of internet
- Experience of financial procedures desirable
**Personal attributes**:
- Sympathetic to the ministry and mission of the Catholic Church
- Self motivated and flexible, with ability to work on own initiative and judgement without supervision or support from colleagues or team, able to cope with change and work under pressure
- Collaborative in working alongside others

**Purpose of role**:To assist the Parish Priest in the organisation of the Parish by undertaking various aspects of administration and co-ordination in the Parish Office and the wider area of the Parish.
**Based at**: The Parish Office, Holy Rood Church, Oxford, OX1 4LD
**Line Manager**: Parish Priest and Parish Administrator
**Main responsibilities**
Be aware of Diocesan Operating Procedures and ensure compliance by the Parish.
- Organise volunteers for and assist with the bi-weekly counting of collections, banking of money and completion of the appropriate paperwork.
- Produce the weekly service sheet for vigil mass at Our Lady of the Rosary
- Carry out and complete monthly health & safety checks in the office.
- Organise reading of electricity meters before the end of the month and enter data as required.
- Have some basic knowledge of Health and Safety legislation as it applies to the workplace and to churches and halls. Be aware of the implications of the Disability Act for places of worship. Ensure that the parish is compliant with copyright legislation.
- Be responsible for the issuing of Licence Agreements for hire of the Rosary Room and Holy Rood meeting room and liaise with room’s users for payments and access to the hall. Creatively promote use of the Rosary Room by the parish and external users to increase parish income.
- Liaise with the Rosary room and Holy Rood cleaner
- Be aware of services and other events taking place over the course of the Liturgical Year and ensure that appropriate preparations are made.
- Liaise with groups using the churches, keeping the parish diary up to date.
- Provide secretarial support for the Parish Priest and for parishioners who have responsibility for various areas.
- Attend Diocesan training sessions.
- Deal with other areas of Parish administration as the need arises.
Feedback from (and to) Parish Priest at regular intervals
**Regular contact / liaison with**:Parish clergy and employees. Parishioners, including those with special areas of responsibility.

**Way of working**:
Regular meeting with Parish Priest to plan, agree action required and to discuss any issues of concern.
