**Work With Us**

We are on the search for a passionate and enthusiastic **Youth Worker in Charge **to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance the lives and prospects of young people in Dorchester and the surrounding villages. We want someone who is approachable and committed and understands the issues facing local young people.

**The role**

Inthis role you will lead your youth worker team to run the session, plan and deliver an exciting programme of activities, ensure the safeguarding and welfare of the young people attending, and maintain records.

Pay will be £13.09 per hour for hours worked. Holiday pay (12%) will be paid in addition.

You will:

- Plan and deliver a programme for the session(s) catering for the age range and interests of the young people attending
- Establish rapport with the young people to help them share any concerns if they have any, and help them make use of the facilities and opportunities for social development the Youth Centre offers
- Develop and run information sessions that deal with specific issues like health, bullying, crime, and drugs
- Keep informed about support programmes for young people in Dorset and opportunities for young people for training, education and volunteering and provide information to attendees
- Attend training courses to maintain professional competences (e.g. safeguarding, mentoring, sexual health)
- Carry out planning and evaluation of the sessions and keep records of activities engaged in by the young people and issues arising
- Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of the young people whilst at the Centre and enter details of incidents or concerns in our myConcern software
- Report to the Youth Work Manager any issues including those that may indicate that referral to other agencies may be required
- Assist the Youth Work Manager in the promotion of the youth club sessions to young people in the town to increase the take-up especially by disadvantaged and vulnerable sections of the community
- Manage simple budgets for the sessions you lead and ensure funds are spent on approved activities and that proper records are kept
- Follow DYCC policies and procedures.

**The Charity**

Dorchester Youth and Community Centre has been run by a charitable trust since September 2016. We aim to provide a truly inclusive, fun and safe place where young people can spend time with their friends and participate in fun activities.

Due to the nature of the work all successful applicants for paid and voluntary positions will be required to undertake a DBS enhanced disclosure.
