We are expanding our team and looking for a Lab & Facilities Assistant to support our mission.

**Role Summary**:
As a Lab & Facilities Assistant, you will play a critical role in the functioning of our labs and overall facility, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. This role involves a mix of goods management, laboratory support, and administrative duties, suited for highly organised individuals passionate about contributing to scientific progress.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Goods and Deliveries Management**: Oversee the receipt, transport, and distribution of materials and samples, including managing post and deliveries.
- **Laboratory Support**: Aid in media preparation, manage laboratory glassware (washing and autoclaving), and contribute to the scheduled deep cleaning of fridges/freezers. Support laboratory cleaning and waste processes, including managing laboratory gas deliveries and cylinder management.
- **Compliance and Safety**: Adhere to safety guidelines, practise safe chemical handling, and ensure compliance with CHARM documentation standards. Keep safety equipment stocked, perform monthly spill and first aid kit checks, and restock as needed.
- **Facility and Laboratory Administration**: Maintain spreadsheets, trackers, and checklists. Manage uploads to the electronic lab notebook (ELN), oversee access passes, and assist with equipment labelling.
- **Project Support**: Contribute to lab operational projects, including fixed asset tagging, implementing Kanban systems, and developing policies and SOPs.

**Qualifications and Education Requirements**:

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capable of lifting/moving items up to 25kg and performing physical tasks.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with an ability to multitask.
- Stakeholder management skills, with experience in liaising with and hosting external engineers and service providers for instrument service and preventive maintenance.
- Ability to establish relationships with scientific staff at all levels.
- Experience with electronic ordering systems preferred.
