**Overview**:
The Head of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) role will be instrumental in helping the organisation achieve its ESG strategy and goals. Responsible for leading on this important agenda across the three pillars of Healthy Communities, Sustainable ‘Bootprint’ and People Empowerment. This role involves leading a team to build and evolve strong relationships with strategic partners internally and externally that align to these key areas and our Boots UK purpose to be ‘With You, for Life’.

Working in our Communications, ESG and Archives team means you are part of a team integral to the business. Sharing our achievements as a responsible business and helping our customers have an impact too.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Deliver the Boots ESG strategy, working with SMEs across the Boots business to enable delivery of targets across the Boots ESG pillars of Healthy Communities, Sustainable Bootprint and People Empowerment
- Manage a team to support the delivery of sustainability projects and charity partnership initiatives
- Responsible for building and growing the partnership with Macmillan, The Hygiene Bank, the Prince’s Trust and others, working collaboratively to expand the unique ways the partnership can deliver shared social impact goals
- Responsible for delivering exciting and successful campaigns in relation to sustainability initiatives/objectives
- Work closely and cross-functionally with ESG leads in comms and marketing to deliver customer facing propositions across all relevant channels
- Responsible for measuring the success of sustainability and social impact initiatives against budget and key performance indicators
- Responsible for overseeing the Boots Charitable Trust, and the Boots Benevolent Fund
- Responsible for governing and reporting of the Boots ESG agenda, including financial reporting obligations, adhering to ESG reporting standards and enforcing WBA ESG policies
- Use customer insights, horizon scanning and connections to industry developments to stay informed on the most relevant trends and issues to maximize impact and drive brand reputation
- Track and manage ESG risks, interpreting potential business impacts and putting in place controls to mitigate risks
- Engaging and exciting colleagues across the business to build awareness of the ESG impact of WBA and Boots through effective engagement and communication
- Leading and advocating for these areas, using your knowledge to influence and challenge across the breadth of the business for continued progress
**What you’ll need to have**:
- Passionate about making a difference and having a role with purpose
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to build relationships across the business and with external partners
- Strong understanding of corporate responsibility and sustainability, preferably in a retail setting
- Experience in delivering and governing sustainability projects and/or experience in delivering emotive and impactful campaigns
- Experience leading a team, managing and prioritising workload across a broad agenda to keep team motivated and on task
- Experience of engaging and influencing at a senior level
- Resilience and emotional intelligence to balance commercial objectives with ESG ambitions in a fast-paced environment
