You are not expected to have experience of all these industry areas but should have in-depth knowledge and understanding of at least one or two of these sectors, either through industry or regulatory experience. You will also have a good knowledge of the Environmental Permitting Regulations and scientific skills that will allow understanding of complex technical proposals, environmental risk and management, and the ability to scrutinise whether policy and guidance has been followed, and legislation and good practice has been met. Experience of assessments relating to noise, odour, dust, air quality, habitats, fire prevention plans and best available techniques (BAT) would be useful.

**Knowledge and experience of the following**:
Education to degree level or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline.

An in-depth understanding of the relevant legislation and how it relates to the installation permitting process.

Proven coaching and mentoring skills.

Strong customer focussed approach to delivery.

Track record of delivering timely optimal solutions by effective information analysis and risk-based decisions.

Effective planning and organisation skills.
