**About the job**:
Our client is an established SME business with a Turnover of circa £20m. Based in Yorkshire to the South of Leeds they are easily commutable from Leeds, Wakefield, Bradford and Huddersfield. They are a service provider operating in a number of sectors including;infrastructure, utilities, construction and civil engineering. They have recently been acquired by a VC backed Group with a Turnover approaching £400m and sequential year on year growth of 20% - 25%.
As part of a broader business transformation process, we are recruiting Financial Controller role. This is a highly commercial number 1 Finance role, reporting directly to the MD with a dotted line to the Divisional FD.
As such it will provide the best of both worlds combining the breadth and highly involved SME experience with the benefits of belonging to a large and supportive Group. The role will provide a great career steppingstone to becoming a Finance Director withmultiple progression routes available with the Group as they continue to expand in the UK.
**Some of the key responsibilities will include**:
- Operate as a key member of the senior management team, with broader responsibilities outside of finance
- Have full accountability for the financial performance of the business submitting financial results to Group
- Support the MD, providing commentary on monthly and YTD performance
- Provision of commercial support on tenders, pricing and capital appraisal
- Annual and monthly budgeting, forecasting and planning
- Develop processes, procedures and systems relating to financial control to align with Group standards
- Coordination of yearly audit process and monthly cashflow forecasting
- Management and leadership of a small finance team
**Some of your key experiences / attributes will include**:
The right person for this role could come from a variety of backgrounds but would need to demonstrate the ability to operate in both an SME and larger group environment if possible. Irrespective of the technical requirements of the role the right personalitymatch will be vital.
- Accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) with proven post qualification experience
- A background in both a control and business partnering environment
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to challenge in a collaborative and open manner
- Commercial business partnering expertise - exposure to bids, tenders, contracts would a bonus
- Good multi-tasking skills with the desire for a broader remit outside of pure finance
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to present complex business cases in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, internal and external
- Experience of process improvement and business transformation
- Basic salary £65,000 - £70,000
