This will be a secondment/ fixed term position with full time hours (37.5 hours); based at Morriston Hospital; until 31 st March 2025 due to funding. The post holder will be expected to work weekends occasionally and to cover other sites when service demands.

Swansea Bay UHB Infection Prevention & Control Service is currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic active NMC registered nurse/ midwife/ health visitor to become part of our specialised Integrated Infection Prevention & Control Team.

Infection Prevention & Control is an essential part of everyday practice in all health care settings and the responsibility of everyone. The IP&C Team now provide a 7-day service, enabling advice & support to be provided to staff and patients in all health care settings across Swansea Bay University Health Board. This includes Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Care and Mental Health and Learning Disabilities.

The successful post holder will become an integral member of the Infection Prevention & Control Team and gain valuable experience working alongside members of the IPCT to deliver the Infection Control work plan. This will include undertaking ward and department visits for assurance purposes, participating in the delivery of education and audit programme, reviewing and reporting laboratory results for particular significant infections, providing advice in relation to preventing and managing infections to reduce transmission to others, and monitoring and reporting on infection outbreaks and control measures.

You will gain valuable experience working collaboratively with many staff disciplines and Service Groups across Swansea Bay. Influencing and supporting best practice through positive role modelling, providing assurance that a consistent and high standard of care is being delivered to ensure a positive patient experience and that safe systems of working are evident to protect staff, patients and visitors from infection risks.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post, but not essential. English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
