**An exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join the central procurement team supporting procurement activities in Scotland, as part of the team working on the day to day procurement and supply chain management for a portfolio of engineering, rail and civils infrastructure projects.**

**Business Unit**

A busy and fast paced procurement and supply chain environment supporting our framework and project teams throughout the UK. The central procurement team is lead by Procurement Director with regional Supply Chain Manager’s and their respective regional procurement teams which consist of Assistant Buyers, Buyers and Senior Buyers. The team are responsible for our overall procurement strategy and day to day procurement of plant and materials, supporting a variety of contracts in sectors including rail, civil engineering, environmental and M&E and rail systems.

**The Role**

As Buyer you will form a key part of the central procurement team. Reporting to the Senior Buyer for the region, you will understand the importance of, and support the ongoing development and maintenance of positive key relationships with key partners/suppliers. You will provide valuable assistance in the day to day procurement of plant and materials, with responsibilities including but not limited to:

- Reviewing requisitions, sourcing, negotiating and placing orders in support of business requirements in accordance with business and operating procedures.
- Support the Supply Chain Manager/Senior Buyer in the successful delivery of Frameworks, Trading Agreements and Cost Saving Initiatives.
- Conducting and reporting of key supplier meetings. Support 360 supplier meeting reviews - organise, obtain site feedback, minute meetings, complete and upload 360 review forms
- Driving Assistant Buyer participation with regards to amendments and invoice queries
- Mentor, assist and promote development with Assistant Buyers
- Challenge bad practice and ensure compliance from the teams
- Data Analysis, effective recording and reporting as and when required
- Attend AmcoGiffen Sites/Offices/Depots when required
- Monitor and report on supplier performance
- Review and process Q&O orders
- Provide support on sub contract orders/vendor assessments
- You will effectively manage key interfaces with points of contact on projects and contracts.
- Drive added value into the business through sound Procurement practices and negotiation.

**Requirements**:
To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Buyer procuring a diverse

range of plant and materials.
- Good communication and computer skills are essential to the role
- Strong negotiation skills and proven purchasing experience, specifically in Rail/Civil Engineering environment would be beneficial.
- The ability to think and act proactively. Positive attitude, motivated and flexible.
- Good observation and communication skills.
- Ability to develop delegation skills
- Effective professional, motivation, co-ordinating and organisational skills.
- Must have CIPS or be already undertaking CIPS or have demonstrable compensatory experience.
