**Stores Operative**

**Portishead, Bristol**

**£20,000 - £22,000 per annum plus profit share and great benefits**

Due to continued growth and success, this Meteorological Instrumentation manufacturer based in Portishead are seeking an efficient, self-motivated Stores Operative. The main purpose of the role is to provide the production area with all parts and aid production in packaging of the finished products.

Reporting to the Manufacturing and Service Manager, this varied Stores Operative role involves processing of Goods In and Goods out, in addition to packing and sealing of finished goods. This is a role requiring flexibility to “muck in” across stores and production and willingness to work independently within the warehouse environment. A good level of physical fitness will also be needed to move goods safely and efficiently.

Assisting the Materials Controller with running Stores, you must be able read, write and interpret procedural documents and specifications such as quality procedures and work instructions. Once established, you will be encouraged to offer suggestions for improving the stores layout to increase efficiency and storage capacity and be willing to assist in implementing any changes.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities of the Stores Operative include:

**1.** **Goods-In/Stores**
- Transfer goods to correct stock locations in stores.
- Ensure stores area is kept organised and tidy.
- Help organise and carry out stock checking as required in coordination with Materials Controller.
- Assist Materials Controller in confirmation of goods receipt.

**2.** **Goods-Out**
- Pick parts from stores for kits as detailed by Production department.
- Maintain documentation for production kits as required.
- Support manufacturing with supply of consumables and bulk issue items.
- Organise parts to be ready for collection by, or shipping to, sub-contractors.
- Assist in the preparation of finished goods ready for shipping.

**3.** **Production**
- Assist in the packing of finished goods.
- Assist in some basic assembly tasks if and when required.

**Essential Skills & Experience**
- Some experience within a Warehouse/Stores facility
- Ability to read, write and interpret procedural documents and specifications such as quality procedure and work instructions.
- General numeracy skills - ability to perform basic arithmetic with confidence
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to work on own initiativeand unsupervised for extended periods of the day
- Physically capable of lifting objects of up to 20kg without handling aids
- Basic computer skills
