We have a new opportunity for a Research Governance Officer to join our Legal and Governance (LeGo) team.

Would you like to work with a team of Legal and Governance professionals supporting world-leading science? If so this could be the role for you.

**About the Role**:
You will enable research teams at the Institute to comply with the requirements of Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) legislation world-wide.

**You will be responsible for**:

- Working with Faculty and research teams across a broad spectrum of scientific projects to determine when compliance with ABS legislation is applicable/necessary, and providing support and facilitating work associated with ABS requirements.
- You will be responsible for training, providing specialist advice and communicating requirements to our staff, tracking and evidencing due diligence, managing and developing the electronic portal for recording this information, and submitting Due Diligence Declarations to the UK regulator on behalf of the Institute.
- You will be expected to pro-actively liaise and build working relationships with National Focal Points (NFPs), other relevant government departments and ministries in countries world-wide to facilitate Institute access to genetic resources, and develop contacts with the UK regulator to maintain Institute resources and ensure that we operate according to the most appropriate and up-to-date information.

**About You**:
**Essential Skills**:

- Graduate qualification (in science or law related discipline is desired)
- Knowledge of Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) legislation and the Nagoya Protocol
- Excellent administrative skills
- Excellent written and oral communication and reporting skills
- Proven ability to work to deadlines and manage complex processes involving a number of individuals
- Essential IT skills, including database use, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to work well within a team

**Other Information**:
Salary in the region of £39,000 to £47,000, dependent upon skills and experience.
