Technical Coordinator
We have an exciting opportunity for the Technical Co-ordinator to join the team. This is an exciting, predominately field-based role within Waste Networks Pumping.
**What you will be doing as the Technical Co-ordinator**
As the Technical Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our Critical National Infrastructure. As part of this, you will plan complex work to repair and enhance assets on our Sewage Pumping Stations across the Thames Valley North region. You will design jobs and ensure any resources (materials, permits and services) are in place to allow work to be completed by Field Technicians. You will also be responsible for managing small-value projects and minor capital budgets.
You will undertake important work to repair and enhance assets on our Sewage Pumping Stations, ensuring our customers receive a reliable and high-quality service. This varies from relatively simple jobs to replace ‘like for like’ valves/pumps/control systems to complex work where stations need to be fully upgraded or flow management needs to be in place to enable the job. A significant amount of the work undertaken will directly link to customer contacts, allowing you to make a big impact on the lives of the people we serve. You will join a team containing both recent starters with fresh ideas and individuals who have been maintaining our assets for many years and are more than willing to share their experiences.
Passion for Engineering:
- Immersing yourself in often unseen and unique infrastructure that serves millions of people.
- Investigating and reviewing the performance of our Sewage Pumping Stations.
- Responding to asset failures and coordinating resources to return them to service.
- Liaising with our contractors and suppliers to deliver solutions to problems on our sites
- Managing complex work and investigations.
- Using your experience and technical expertise to directly improve the lives of our customers.
- Understanding and engaging with a variety of equipment including but not limited to pumps, valves, pipework, lifting equipment, ultrasonic level sensors, flowmeters, control panels and LV electrical equipment.
- Providing technical advice and expertise to field staff and 3rd parties.
Team Working and Communication
- You will work in an area alongside a Field Operations Manager and a team of technicians with a wide variety of skillsets ranging from unskilled through to mechanical, electrical and ICA.
- You will work with support teams to deliver projects and maintain equipment.
- Waste Control Centre - Monitor our telemetry.
- Planning and Scheduling - Plan and deliver work to technicians.
- Maintenance Projects - Deliver higher value capital works.
- SCADA Support - Technical expertise for our telemetry systems.
- Purchasing and Contract Management - Supplier management.
- You will work with 3rd parties to deliver work. This will include providing detailed instruction and monitoring progress. Liaising with customers and customer representatives including council and local government officials.
- Responding promptly and effectively to operational events.
System and Process use
- Raising and receipting work orders through SAP.
- Using our APS risk system to highlight and investigate areas of risk and opportunity within our infrastructure.
- Use of SCADA telemetry to investigate site operation and ensure a prompt and effective response in event situations.
- Reviewing reports for statutory inspections and raising relevant follow-on work. (i.e. chemical tank inspections and remedial actions).
**What you should bring to the role**:
- An established relevant business or technical experience, possibly with a military, utilities, engineering or planning background.
- Good communication skills and proactive approach.
- Experience in managing Health and Safety.
- Good understanding of customer expectations.
- An awareness of business procedures and processes.
- Ability to liaise at all levels and influence beyond the span of control.
- High attention to detail.
- A full current driving license is essential for this position.
**What’s in it for you?**
- Competitive salary depending on experience.
- Annual Leave - 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays)
- Car Allowance.
- Contributory pension - Defined Contribution - Maximum of 12% -2x employee contribution.
- Personal Medical Assessments - Open to all once a year.
- Wider benefits scheme including our benefits hub, which is packed full of offers and information to save you money and support your wellbeing.
