**WEEKLY HOURS**:Full time, 35 hours per week

**Purpose of the Job**:

- To work with LGBTQ+ people who use our services in a one-to-one or group setting, to help them to address their alcohol or other drug use or other specific issues.

Main Duties
- To review and assess the needs of LGBTQ+ people who use our services with an alcohol or drug problem within a variety of settings.
- To support people who use our services to improve overall health and wellbeing.
- To support people who use our services to improve their social situation, including assistance with housing, benefits, accessing community services and budgeting.
- To work with people who use our services to remove any structural and social barriers to accessing treatment services.
- To support individuals and families to access appropriate treatment and recovery services.
- Keep accurate and confidential records.
- Produce relevant documents and reports in support of the role.
- Attend and contribute to meetings with other staff and partners.

Post Specific Duties:
This post is focussed on: (select as appropriate)

☒ Running support and recovery groups for people who use our services.

☒ Seeing individuals one to one in our offices in Doncaster or in the community or service users homes.

Other specific duties:

- Build strong and effective partnerships with local organisations to better understand the needs of the LGBTQ+ community,
- Deliver high quality evidence-based, culturally relevant harm reduction support.
- Raise awareness of the barriers that LGBTQ+ people experience among the Sober Social and wider community, and actively challenge stigma and prejudice.
- Raise awareness about alcohol and other drug use among LGBTQ+ people; change attitudes, combat stigma, and influence the community.
- Build on the success of Sober Social’s involvement with Doncaster Pride and increase impact in 2024.
- Project 6 is committed to creating services that are accessible to diverse communities. The LGBTQ+ Worker will play a key role in the development of this work.
- To provide support in the community for individuals and families with the aim of helping them to make positive changes that will aid their recovery.
- To support and signpost individuals and families to engage with other supportive services.
