Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 2 Administrative assistant to join our team to service the elective orthopaedic service Mexborough Elective Orthopaedic Centre. Please note this vacancy will be based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary site.

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) working in partnership with Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BH) and The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT) are opening a dedicated orthopaedic hub for the people of South Yorkshire, with health professionals undertaking hip and knee replacement inpatient procedures alongside foot and ankle, hand and wrist, and shoulder day case surgery.

The Montagu Elective Orthopaedic Centre (MEOC) facility will feature two state-of-the-art theatre units, two anaesthetic rooms and a recovery suite, in addition to 12 inpatient beds.

This position is for an enthusiastic administrative assistant to support the waiting list coordinator for MEOC to deliver the elective theatre activity designated for MEOC.

This is a permanent full time position hours a week but part time may be considered.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of a multi professional team your main objectives will be to provide full administrative support duties to the waiting list coordinator for MEOC developing efficient and effective services, managing resources to achieve national and local quality and performance targets.

You will be responsible for working closely with the waiting list coordinator , clinicians , administrative staff from Barnsley and Rotherham hospitals providing expertise in the proactive management of patient pathways.

You will be responsible for the day to day administrative duties relating to the MEOC waiting list. You will be expected to undertake a variety of data entry inputs utilising a range of digital/IT systems and also manage a further range of administrative tasks such as managing case notes, negotiating with patients and communicating with the multi disciplinary team. The expectation is that you will be able to pay attention to timely accurate data entry and data quality

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about challenges of a busy working and constantly changing environment, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and to achieve strict deadlines.
