Are you a care leaver aged 18 or over?

Would you like to help children and young people in care and get paid for it?

We’re looking for care experienced people to form a new peer mentor team in Darlington, where your knowledge and experience will help younger, less experienced children and young people who are in care.

You’ll have between 1 and 4 young people (mentee’s) to support by spending time together doing ordinary things (like having a coffee or going fishing), you’ll be there for them and share the benefit of your experience to help them whilst they are in care.

The hours are flexible to suit you both and vary depending how many people you support, although there is a minimum commitment of 11 per month. We’ll give you all the training you need, and you’ll have the support of a great team who really want to make a difference for children and young people in care.

This is a sessional role (you’re paid for the hours you work) until March 2025.

Find out more about mentoring and our plans for the scheme in the Mentoring Leaflet and Job Description attached to the advert.
