**Job overview**:
University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated person to lead Quality and Governance within Cancer Services. This role is pivotal to ensuring cancer services are delivered to the highest standards of evidenced based practise that meets the needs of UHB patients, their families and the wider health community.

The role requires the post holder to have a sound understanding of cancer specialties, pathways, processes, standards, peer review and targets. Also posses a strong foundation in managing quality, patient safety, risk management, data and clinical effectiveness.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
1.Lead the alignment process of cancer MDT meetings across the organisation, including - entry and exit routes, effectiveness and suitability of MDT facilities and accommodation, standardisation of MDT outputs, standardisation of treatment protocols and data collection.

2.Lead the delivery, risk management and assurance process for the delivery of cancer transformation and quality improvement projects.

3.Work closely with the Lead Cancer Clinician(s) / Lead Cancer Nurse on the Cancer Quality Surveillance process ensuring there is a programme of ongoing review for tumour-level action plans and work programmes throughout the year and leading on the organisation of the annual internal validation panel process.

4.Maintain oversight of quality metrics for MDTs, ensuring these meet local requirements in relation to bench-marking and informing improvement activities.

5.Identify ongoing opportunities to further improve the quality of cancer services provided by the organisation, including scoping best-practice initiatives, reviewing the evidence and literature base and developing proposals for adoption and spread.

Degree, equivalent professional qualification or management qualification plus acquired training to master's level or equivalent experience

Knowledge of own area of expertise acquired through degree or equivalent experience and training plus further management knowledge

Current professional registration to a relevant clinical body

Experience of managing in multidisciplinary organisation

Experience of working with Senior Clinical Staff

NHS political and cultural awareness

Extensive experience, understanding and knowledge of the National Cancer Agenda and operational experience of working within cancer pathways

Experience of policy development and implementation in a clinical quality context
