The successful applicant would work within the dynamic multi-disciplinary paediatric specilaity team at a senior level. Good team working skills are essential. The applicant would be expected to have at least one year of experience in the sponsored paediatric speciality. The applicant would work alongside the consultants in parallel outpatient clinic settings, and would need to have an excellent command of the English language, oral and written. The applicant would also be involved in the management of inpatient referrals and admissions and the transfer of patients from district hospitals for work up and ongoing management as required. This post will contribute to the hospital out of hour’s rota at ST6-8 level (for which additional funding is provided).

There is plenty of opportunity for educational development within the post. As a university teaching hospital we have an active educational program within each of the departments throughout the hospital, including a weekly hospital Paediatric Grand Round.

The successful applicant would be expected to participate and at times lead the educational meetings. There is an opportunity to teach medical undergraduates from the University of Bristol, at the bedside or in clinic, and in a more formal lecture setting.

This post offers excellent opportunities to be involved with research and a solid background in academic research would be beneficial. The successful applicant would be expected to participate in the research activities of the unit and show the ability to work within the regulations of NIHR registered clinical trials. Completion of the GMC Good Clinical Practice would be required - this can be achieved in advance or in post.
