The main duties of this job include - cannulating patients for radiological procedures, handing out prep for our CTC patients and supporting them in this, assisting with CT biopsy's, monitoring patients, working within the Interventional Radiology setting, stock taking and ordering. You are also expected to support the Imaging Assistants in their work, as well as covering their role if the need arises.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

After relevant training, be proficient in cannulation.

Cannulate patients attending for CT procedures.

Assist the radiographers in ensuring annual appraisals of imaging assistants are completed in a timely manner.

Be responsible for ordering consumables for the CT service at all sites.

Set up sterile trolley for interventional CT procedures

Support Radiologist carrying out interventional CT procedures including pre and post care of patient

Rotate through Interventional Radiology to ensure competence in patient care post interventional procedure

To work under the direction of the Modality Manager, liaising with Radiologists, Radiographers, and other Assistants to ensure patient needs and welfare are attended to.

To assist with the collection and distribution of imaging request cards and notes of patients awaiting imaging examinations.

Escort patients to the appropriate waiting area.

Act as the patient’s advocate ensuring that their best interests are met.

- 4 GCSE including Maths and English

- NVQ Level 3
