As a GIS Consultant in 'Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology' (ADS&T), you will be part of our growing Data Intelligence practice; sitting alongside Data Scientists providing the organisation with innovative solutions that drive efficiencies, contribute to our Net Zero targets and digitally transform our client organisations. Our 90 strong Geospatial team have an enormous range of specialities and backgrounds which is why we can work on and deliver a huge variety of projects across all SNC-L regions including the UK, Middle East, Canada, U.S and Asia Pacific. You will be devising and implementing GIS solutions across multiple disciplines (infrastructure, environment, planning, and energy) through all parts of a project’s life cycle. Working with our clients, you'll be supported by our warm and welcoming team to identify, shape and manage GIS capabilities as well as developing your interests and excel your career within the organisation. This position would suit someone with experience of consulting with clients and providing GIS solutions to the engineering sector, who enjoys using software to automate tasks.

This is a UK based position. Atkins has offices across the UK, this position can be based in London, Birmingham, Bristol or Glasgow where our team is based and where you can have a team of geospatial professionals mentoring you through your career. Travel is an important part of the role of a consultant and travel to client offices across the UK may be required. Some travel abroad for project work and global team integration may also be required.

**_ Your purpose:_**
- Work as an effective member of a GIS project team on high profile infrastructure projects.
- Produce high-quality GIS outputs and products to meet project requirements to deadlines and according to project standards.
- Provide appropriate GIS analysis, data creation and management to support projects and disciplines.
- Automate processes using FME or python and assist in upskilling others in the team in this area.
- Provide GIS technical support on projects to various disciplines internal to Atkins and clients external to Atkins.
- Communicate the benefits of GIS in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Assist the development of business opportunities by providing client focused GIS solutions
- Manage internal GIS tasks (scope and people).

**_ What you can bring:_**
- You are passionate about how GIS solutions can solve real-life problems.
- You have a degree qualification in GIS or a related field and experience using GIS software.
- You have demonstratable experience of task automation using either FME or python.
- You are innovative and able to provide new solutions to client’s problems to save them time
- You have extensive experience using ArcGIS 10.x and its extensions and ArcGIS Pro. ArcGIS Portal experience is desirable.
- You have provided GIS support in project focused environments with internal clients in the past.
- You have proven experience of delivering high quality outputs to deadlines within pressurised environments.
- You are able to communicate the benefits of GIS to various stakeholders.
- You have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
