The PR team is part of Sky’s Consumer Engagement team, whose role is to inspire consumers, media and influencers to champion the best of Sky. Whether it’s our great original shows like Gangs of London, our international hits like House of the Dragon or our award-winning products like Sky Glass, we harness the power of earned media to tell positive stories about Sky. We’re creative, driven and action orientated - we deliver great PR campaigns that get people talking, making customers value their subscription and prospective customers want to join Sky.

What you’ll do:
As a member of Sky’s PR team, you will help to drive our Product PR in the UK and deliver best in class work as part of a small, passionate in-house team.

You will lead on some activity alongside supporting the wider team, including the Senior PR Manager/Head of PR, on press office, campaigns and events. Product areas covered by the role include Sky TV (i.e. Sky Stream, Sky Glass), Sky Mobile, Sky Broadband and Sky Protect, Sky’s smart home tech & insurance offering. The role does not cover shows or content.
- Lead day to day press office activity for our products, including crafting news stories & alerts, researching & fact checking information, coverage reporting, tracking & evaluation.
- Build and enhance Sky’s relationship with the media, including fostering media contacts for the benefit of the team and business. Build your network and think innovatively based on the changing landscape of media.
- Support the team on reactive media enquiries and manage issues when required, including drafting statements, seeking internal sign off and liaising with journalists
- Work on priority PR campaigns that drive awareness and advocacy for Sky’s products. Work as part of a team as well as managing individual aspects of an overall campaign (e.g. media relations, press events or creative executions).
- Event management including concepting, project managing and activating media engagement events and product launches.
- Get under the skin of the relevant business areas and foster a strong internal stakeholder network, helping our team to achieve goals, drive collaboration and identify stories
- Bring energy and fresh perspective, to ensure innovation is at the heart of our work in a fast-changing media landscape.
- Bring an understanding of great PR, new tactics and the cutting edge of the industry to help shape our campaigns and day-to-day activities

What you’ll bring:

- Approximately 1-4 years of experience in consumer PR - you may be operating at JAE/AE/SAE level or equivalent.
- Excellent personal and written communication skills.
- Experience in implementing effective consumer PR campaigns and the ability to take initiative and work under pressure in a busy and fast paced environment.
- Experience pitching to journalists and an instinct for what makes a story.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with a network of digital, social, print and broadcast journalists.
- Strong understanding of the broader print, broadcast, online and social media landscape to identify opportunities.
- Experience working for a relevant tech (gaming, TV, mobile, broadband) client/company would be useful
- The ability to act with autonomy by identifying opportunities, spotting what needs to be done, seeking solutions to problems and referring upwards for guidance or to gain agreement on a recommendation.
- The ability to communicate in a proactive and positive manner, building effective relationships both internally and externally.
- A desire to deliver best in class, creative work that supports business objectives.
- Excellent planning skills with the ability to prioritise and work across multiple projects at any one time.
- An understanding of issues management, and the steps taken in a press office to respond. - A passion for tech and TV.
