For our AMETEK CTS business unit, we are looking for a Purchasing Operative (M/F/d) at our location in Newport on the Isle of Wight, UK.

The purchasing operative is responsible to the Plant Manager for activity relating to the purchasing and expedition of parts for the facility, including Operations and Engineering.
The individual will liaise with the Plant Manager and Operations staff for the effective execution of their duties and will adjust schedules for timely delivery and maintain up to date knowledge of the objectives. The individual will plan and monitor material movement utilising approved methodologies for best practice implementation for materials.
Within the Operations area the Purchasing operative will work to:
- Ensure that all parts are ordered in a timely manner.
- Liaise with Plant Manager to ensure the latest requirements are met.
- Expedite and liaise with suppliers.
- Maintain and/or reduce costs based on targets.
- Be part of the month cycle counting process.
- Create and maintain reports and spreadsheet for use in performing the function.
- Review and prioritise purchasing activity to meet the requirements.
- Observe and implement the Quality procedures for the area.
- Act as a second for areas of stock, planning and delivery activities where necessary.
In addition, the Purchasing operative will:
- Identify and implement improvements in process. Suitable steps are:
- Identify opportunities for improvement in supply and demand.
- Evaluate proposed changes for benefits and disadvantages.
- Discuss / arrange for implementation via the Plant Manager.
- Create, maintain and enhance effective working relationships:
- Establish and maintain the trust and support of work colleagues.
- Establish and maintain the trust of the Plant Manager.
- Establish and maintain good inter-departmental relationships.
- Exchange information to solve problems and make decisions:
- Contribute to discussions to solve problems and make decisions.
- Advise and inform others.
- Make good, non-conformances to Quality Manual:
- Understand importance of Quality compliance to the Company.
- Become familiar with relevant procedures.
- Take appropriate action to put right personal non-compliance.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Be able to work in a Production Environment
- Have had 3 years purchasing experience.
- Effective communications skills.
- Have proven problem-solving methodologies.
- CIPS qualification would be an advantage.
