This is an exciting opportunity to join the division in a specialist cyber security role. Reporting to the Cyber Business Engagement Lead and DISO you will be the primary point of contact on Cyber Security issues with key internal and external stakeholders, where you will develop strong working relationships.

You will be a central part of this function and support the further establishment of the Cyber Security specialism, whilst managing the challenges and drive for continuous improvement.

Typical role level expectations
- Promote Corporate Cyber awareness at all levels as a high profile professional cyber security individual, when interacting with colleagues dedicated to science led public health programmes and wider research activities.
- Be a supportive and alternative point of contact relating to Cyber Security issues with key stakeholders and actively develop strong working relationships, promoting Cyber Security.
- Contribute to providing assurance that our Cyber Security policies and security controls remain appropriate and proportionate to the assessed risks and are responsive and adaptable to the ever-changing cyber threat environment, corporate business requirements and central government policies.
- Provide a supportive role to promote learning, development, and accreditation, cultivate talent, and foster an inclusive, diverse, and motivated workforce.
- Work with the wider cyber specialisms to help promote cross-government security mindedness.

The United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has a mission to provide health security for the nation by providing protection from Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear incidents and other public health related threats. As part of its development and governance, UKHSA is expanding the Cyber Security Department, building on its capability to provide a critical function in the protection of the UKHSA’s digital assets. Working closely with wider UKHSA security teams and stakeholders (Government Security Group, NCSC and NPSA) we are aiming to build a resilient infrastructure, supporting the organisation in reaching its ambition to become a global leader for health security and a critical component of our national security architecture

This role will require you to work with staff at all levels, some who are not only located in our 57 centres and offices throughout the UK but also home-based workers and some deployed overseas.

**As a senior cyber security professional, you will assist**:

- Bridge the gaps between the centralised cyber security function to business; Laboratory based staff and corporate technology (ICT).
- Assist with the translation of strategic requirements into specific measurable tasks.
- Collaborate effectively to identify and support the management and remediation of cyber security risks and issues
- Support an escalation path to support the timely resolution and remediations for security issues & incidents.
- Provide cyber and information security guidance, including the triage and early management of workstreams in response to emerging priorities.
- Communicate effectively to ensure stakeholders recognise and proactively consider the importance of cyber security and respond accordingly to relevant changes in policy and procedures.
- Support people-focused initiatives, such as role and career development, to help build civil servant led capabilities.
- Create and conduct reviews of security implementation guidance documentation to ensure requirements from governance are reflected.
- Work with technical teams to support the continuous security improvement of designated systems and networks.
- Ensure regular, accurate and timely reporting to line management or others, to measure the status of cyber security goals and objectives.
