**Role Overview**

We are currently recruiting for an Environmental and Sustainability Advisor to join our passionate and driven team based at Home Based

The importance of environment and sustainability is becoming more prevalent across society and a range of our stakeholders including customers, colleagues and supply chains. This role will support our environment and sustainability agenda, improving performance, reducing risk and communicating our plans to stakeholders. This role seeks to ensure that we make a difference in the way that we impact the environment.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support our Environmental Management System, accredited to ISO14001:2015, ensuring that there is continual improvement and management of risk across all activities and sites.
- Use expert knowledge to formulate the procedures for environment and sustainability ensuring that they are connected to the overall OCS strategy, and to report on progress towards environment and sustainability targets and objectives on a regular basis.
- Ensure OCS continues to improve performance in key sustainability areas including energy, waste and recycling, procurement, transport, biodiversity and other impact areas by engendering commitment and participation.
- Take the advisory role on issues of non-compliance or environmental incidents reported and maintain awareness of current (and future) legislation to ensure legal compliance.
- Assist with OCS response to CDP, Achilles Carbon Reduce and EcoVadis initiatives.
- Support our ESG approach to build a credible and compelling narrative in support of sales retention and growth.
- Engage with the procurement team to support sustainable goods and service provision.
- Give credibility to the environment and sustainability by actively building effective working relationships across a range of stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on progress with environmental sustainability objectives embedded into QHSE Action Plans and support the production of useful management information/ dashboards.
- Carry out Environmental Impact Assessments to identify, assess and reduce environmental risks (internally and externally as required)
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure meaningful communications are developed and published to increase awareness of environmental and sustainability issues and promote behavioural change.
- Work collaboratively and constructively with members of the QHSE Team to ensure consistent and seamless delivery of support across OCS.
- Communicate regularly with colleagues through formal and informal channels on environmental and sustainability matters to ensure that there is a free flow of ideas and that morale remains high.
- Ensure that OCS environmental and sustainability image is reflected positively through your actions and those of your colleagues.
- Ensure that personal environmental and sustainability competence and skill level is maintained
