The Role

Are you a passionate academic actively engaged in research in Public Law? Does your research form a critical connection with your teaching; are you passionate about communicating its importance to your students and to working with external partners?

We seek to appoint a Lecturer in Public Law on a teaching and research (T&R) basis to join our forward thinking, inclusive Russell Group Law School that seeks to embed its values in all that it does: Challenge; Social Justice; Compassion; Wellbeing; Excellence; Responsibility; and Respect.

Key Accountabilities
- Plan, organise and carry out scholarship and/or research as relevant to the appointment, to ensure the contribution of new knowledge, insight and innovation to the relevant field of public law
- Conduct research as relevant to the appointment that demonstrates international standards of excellence in terms of originality, significance and rigour and ensure all our students benefit from studying in a research intensive, research excellent academic

environment
- Contribute to the research profile as appropriate to the appointment of the Law School by publishing in high quality journals, demonstrating impact, working collaboratively across disciplines, pursuing external research funding, and/or undertaking external

engagement with partners and stakeholders in legal education
- Design and deliver high quality teaching and learning material, resources and activities to students in line with School and Faculty teaching objectives and timetable requirements
- To contribute to teaching on undergraduate and potentially postgraduate modules
- Provide a range of timely student support to enhance the student experience and achievements. Set, mark and assess course work and examinations, providing timely and effective feedback to students in line with University policy, and utilise on-line and digitised

curricula and education frameworks
- Provide personal tutoring and pastoral guidance (when appropriate, obtaining specialist support and advice)
- Supervise undergraduate and taught postgraduate students’ dissertations
- Contribute to the planning, design and development of modules and programmes to improve teaching across the School and Faculty
- Evaluate own practice and presently have or show a willingness to work towards an appropriate category of Fellowship with Advance HE
- Provide education for life that engages, challenges and supports our students to discover and fulfil their potential both while they are studying with us and once they have graduated
- Promote the University’s values and directly support widening access to our programmes and facilities to people who have historically had little involvement in universities
- Contribute to professional development in your field by active membership of learned societies and professional institutions
- Take responsibility for a defined management or academic citizenship roles such as Module Coordinator, Employability Lead, Research Ethics Lead, academic support for the Board of Examiners or other duties as agreed with the Head of School
- Operate as an active and collegiate citizen in the Law School community
