**Job title**

Buyer and Stock Control

**Overall purpose of this position**

To fully understand, manage and maintain the stock requirements of the business.

To work with our supply chain to build and maintain excellent relationships and negotiate the best prices and service levels that best suit the needs of our business

**Objectives & goals**
- To ensure that the right type and quantity of stock is available for sales orders on a continual basis
- To ensure that our stock carried is the best use of capital tied up in the same
- 100% Stock accuracy

**Main responsibilities**
- Stock Control - Develop and maintain inventory control procedures to optimise stock levels and minimise waste.
- Intelligently stock forecasting - Monitor and analyse inventory movements and identify trends to anticipate future demand and adjust stock levels accordingly.
- Weekly Random Inventory Checks against our stock reports
- Maintain minimum stock levels on our software system
- Maintain minimum reorder quantities on our software system
- Manage maximum stocked quantities to ensure we are not tying up too much capital
- Deadstock evaluation to release tied up capital
- Forward order planning; liaising with sales people to plan for the weeks / month ahead
- Completing corrective actions where necessary (ISO quality)
- Goods received on Brightpearl following agreed and signed goods in note from Yard team & raising invoice queries & non conformities when required
- Maintain up-to-date records of stock levels, stock movements, and inventory variances using computerized stock management systems.
- Assist with the procurement process from selecting suppliers, negotiating prices, and placing orders to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with delivery/lead times, product quality, and pricing.
- Following processes and procedures specific to your role
- To be aware of and follow all company wide policies and procedures set out in our handbook and intranet site
- To “raise your hand” and flag up any concerns you have about your role and workload

**Other associated tasks**

Daily checks on Brightpearl in the following areas; Low inventory, Purchases not received/part received, Sales not fulfilled/part fulfilled. Orders not allocated.

Control of stock levels in Brightpearl and in the yard/warehouse. Minimum stock levels and reorder quantities to be set and maintained for all product lines. Perpetual inventory checks to be carried out on a regular basis to check physical stock against Brightpearl and investigate discrepancies.

Identifying our fastest moving items as well as our slowest and suggesting what we do and do not keep in stock.

Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement of your areas of responsibility and the business generally.

Assist with customer telecom sales & trade counter sales when required.

Provide regular reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and procurement activities to senior management.

**Qualifications required**

Positive “Can Do” attitude

Transport and Logistics role experience

**Skills & experience**
- Minimum 2 years experience in similar role
- Building industry / merchant experience preferred but not essential
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in computerised inventory management systems
- A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Software and computer skillsStrategic planning skills
- Ability to demonstrate behaviours in line with “Cotterill Civils Business Behaviours”

**Working under pressure**

This role is fast paced and very dynamic. There will be deadlines to meet, some days more than others and a critical attribute is to be able to take this in your stride and deal with it cool headedly and objectively. Things can change unexpectedly and beyond our control. It is important to expect this and be “ready” so that you can cope and work under pressure.

Demanding customers, mechanical or IT breakdowns, supply chain issues, all contribute to these unexpected changes. Supply chain issues become ours to manage with the customer.

Be careful with expectations - rather than we will, say we plan to, or we aim to, not hope to.

Customers expect very high levels of service once they have placed trust and an order with us.
