**About us**
Footsteps to Futures Ltd are a small organisation that have been delivering a high standard of residential care for six years and currently operates four children's homes in the Nottinghamshire area which accommodate young people aged 7 - 18 years old with emotional and behavioural difficulties. The aim of our service is to provide a safe and empowering place for all young people to live in. The team’s role is to improve the quality of life of children and help them come to terms with previous life experiences.
**Footsteps to Futures Ltd have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Support Worker's to join our existing team at our children’s home located in Redmile and Mansfield. Our home can house up to three young children aged 7 - 15 years old.**
The role of a Senior Support Worker is to take responsibility of the day-to-day care of children residing within our residential homes as well as have oversight of each shift worked. This includes the management of care staff on shift and planning of young people’s activities.
The overall purpose of the role is to support children’s challenging behaviours and help them come to terms with previous life experiences whilst working towards their eventual independence. This involves adhering to safeguarding procedures, working as part of a team to towards shared objectives and demonstrating working practice in line with the company’s ethos and values. Footsteps to Futures Ltd passionately believes in prioritising quality of care ensuring that children are cared for with love, compassion, and empathy.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- To shift lead ensuring care workers are supported
- To manage care workers on shift
- To provide supervision for Care Workers
- To have oversight of each residents’ activities
- To make key decisions regarding the management of each shift
- To have oversight of any incidents which occur on shift
- To support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day management of the home
- To lead by example
- To demonstrate a duty of care for all children and young people in your care
- To effectively safeguard children and young people in your care
- To engage in direct work with children and young people including key working and behaviour management
- Working with external stakeholders including social workers, health professionals and education professionals
- Taking responsibility for the welfare of the home including health and safety responsibilities and property management
- To carry out all administrative responsibilities including care planning and risk assessments
- To be a positive role model for children and young people
- To work in line with the companies’ policies and procedures
- To take care of the home ensuring that children and young people have a positive, safe and clean environment to reside in
- To promote equal opportunities for all children and young people in your care
- To engage with all training and development opportunities
- To invest in the company’s ethos, values, and compassionate approach to care
**The duties as outlined in this job description are not exhaustive and may change from time to time due to the changing nature of the working environment. You are expected to carry out all appropriate tasks necessary to meet the needs of the services or as may be requested by your line manager.**
- Previous experience of working in a children’s residential home.
- Experience of working with children and young people with challenging behaviour.
- Knowledge on how to support children and young people who experience EBD.
- A compassionate understanding of the complex needs of young people.
- Knowledge of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable young people.
- Effective communication skills
- Strong reporting and recording skills.
- The ability to lead and organise a shift.
- An ability to work within a team to help support and motivate each other to provide outstanding care.
- The passion and dedication needed to positively impact the lives of young people.

Hourly rate of pay is £12.14 - £13.41. Sleep ins are required and paid at an additional £62.40
