In this role, you'll work closely with us to optimize our van and lorry fleet, reducing dead mileage and maximizing backload utilization through our established connections.

**Position Overview**:
As a Transport Planner Assistant - Dead Mileage Reduction Specialist at Tremayne Distributions, you'll be a vital part of our efforts to streamline operations. Your responsibilities will extend beyond number-crunching to building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, and internal management throughout the process.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Analyse transportation routes and schedules to identify inefficiencies and dead mileage, while securing opportunities for backload utilization.
- Collaborate closely with transport planners to develop and implement strategies to optimize routes and reduce dead miles, ensuring maximum efficiency.
- Utilize transportation management software and data analysis tools to monitor fleet performance and identify optimization opportunities.
- Liaise with customers to understand their transportation needs and provide solutions that meet their requirements while minimizing environmental impact.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to secure additional capacity and backload opportunities, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
- Communicate regularly with internal management to provide updates on optimization efforts, solicit feedback, and ensure alignment with company goals.
- Facilitate seamless communication between drivers, dispatchers, and all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of optimization strategies.

**Experience**:

- Previous experience in transportation planning, logistics, or a related role is essential.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and derive actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in transportation management software and data analysis tools.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Dedication to environmental stewardship and enthusiasm for sustainability initiatives.

**Salary**: £27,335.00-£28,559.00 per year
