You will provide vital support to the Investigations Team to ensure that proportionate action is taken to address wrongdoing and prevent harm within and of the charity sector. You will have a role in ensuring the effective management of what are the Commission’s highest-risk cases which will have a significant impact on public perception and the Commission’s ability to build public trust and confidence in the charity sector.

You will further the Commission’s role in identifying and investigating misconduct and mismanagement in the administration of charities, promoting compliance by charity trustees and promoting public trust and confidence in charities. You will be responsible for contributing to the work of the Investigations Team by providing administrative support and assistance to the Investigations Team in conducting statutory inquiries.

All inquiries are focused on regulatory matters where the risk of financial harm or harm to vulnerable beneficiaries is highest. You will undertake an administrative support role for the team as well as be given the opportunity to analyse evidence, draft legal documents, organise and attend interviews and inspections of charities under investigation and be managing follow-up monitoring casework. You will help ensure the regulatory concerns are pursued efficiently, effectively and expediently, in accordance with the Commission’s operational guidelines and procedures, using the Commission’s legal powers to protect charities and their assets from the risk of, or ongoing, abuse.

**Job description**:

- Provide support in the conduct of investigations by maintaining case-related records, organising, preparing for, coordinating inspections and legal disclosure of material on investigative files for criminal and other legal proceedings, and drafting investigative documents. Preparing and processing regulatory orders; monitoring and assessing compliance with these and alerting colleagues where remedial action may be necessary.
- Conducting investigations into charities that default on their reporting obligations and undertake Inquiry follow-up and monitoring casework, under the guidance of the lead investigator. Highlighting when regulatory action is required and escalating as necessary.
- Provide support on a range of Investigations Team development and policy work: by undertaking topical research; liaison with other regulators and agencies; and assisting with the drafting and amending of guidance and procedures.
- Where necessary coordinate Investigation Team responses to requests for information or comments from other teams in the Commission on draft policies, procedures, guidance and publications, ensuring that deadlines are met.
- Provide general support to the work of the Investigations Team as required, for example, by organising Investigation and Inquiries team meetings, events, training and away days and provide support and coordinating, researching and preparing briefings and presentation materials
