**Job Title: Finance Business Partner - Tyne Coast Academy Trust**

**Pay Scale: MSP 14 - 16**

**Accountable to: Head of Finance**

**JOB PURPOSE**

To prepare the Academy Trust monthly management accounts, annual budgets and support with statutory accounts. This role will link directly with budget holders to ensure monthly forecasts are as accurate as possible.

**KEY RESULT AREAS**

1. Prepare the monthly management accounts for the Academy Trust and its schools. Liaise with a set of budget holders to ensure they have the financial information they require to manage their budget. Work with them to provide updates and forecasts throughout the year and be proactive in taking action to address any variance from budget that occur.

2. Line manage any academy finance staff and work with colleagues to ensure the academy finance processes are undertaken timely and accurately in order to manage the day to day finance operations of the Academy Trust.

3. Preparation of annual budgets by working with budget holders to prepare draft budgets for schools in the Academy Trust.

4. Support the Head of Finance and Chief Operating Officer with specific project work throughout the Academy Trust.

5. Work in collaboration with officers within the Academy Trust and advise and recommend ways to work more efficiently and effectively manage local budgets.

6. Work with the Head of Finance and Senior Managers to support the Academy Trust to drive changes and efficiencies through more proactive financial management.

7. Contribute to the preparation of the statutory annual report and accounts and other statutory returns.

8. Report directly and promptly to the Head of Finance any potential, actual or suspected irregularity within the Academy Trust Financial Regulations and financial management.

9. Liaise with internal and external auditors as required and assist the Head of Finance in the preparation of papers for the Finance and Staffing Committees.

10. Attendance at all Academy Local Governing Body and relevant Finance and Staffing Committee when required.

11. Prepare reports and provide analysis on finance issues as requested.

12. Work with the Head of Finance to develop the Trust finance systems.

13. Proactively work with the Head of Finance to transform services, using a commercial mind-set to ensure strategic aims are achieved.

14. Provide support to requisitioners and budget holders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services to deliver best value for money.

15. Provide support to budget holders to ensure strong compliance with the Trusts Financial Regulations.

16. Support the Trust’s Contracts and Procurement Manager to ensure that all Academy Trust procurement is carried out in accordance with the Academy Trust financial regulations and procurement procedures and to ensure that best value for money is achieved.

17. Support the Trust’s Contracts and Procurement Manager in procurement, benchmarking and tendering exercises.

18. The post holder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the job description for the post. The particular duties and responsibilities attached to posts may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed.

**VARIATION IN THE ROLE**

Given the dynamic nature of the role and structure of Tyne Coast Academy Trust, it must be accepted that, as the Trust’s work develops and changes, there will be a need for adjustments to the role and responsibilities of the post. The duties specified above are, therefore, not to be regarded as either exclusive or exhaustive. They may change from time to time commensurate with the grading level of the post and following consultation with the member of staff.
