**Job Title**:Sports Coach - Hockey

**Salary**:Coaching salary depending on qualifications and experience

**Hours**:Full Time, term time only

**Responsible to**:Director of Sport

**Main purpose of job**:
To plan and/or deliver a coordinated program of high quality, professional hockey coaching that is progressive and reflective of the needs of Wells Cathedral School. Demonstrating all due care to safer practice for children and for all relevant Health and Safety legislation

**Main Duties**:
1. To deliver all round excellent hockey specific skill sessions that are enjoyable and centred on the needs of the participants between the ages of 7-18
2. To be able to adapt their coaching to suit a range of ability groups via appropriately planned sessions in line with the broader hockey philosophy set out by the Head of Hockey/Director of Sport

3. To accompany school teams to and provide coaching/umpiring at fixtures and/or tournaments
4. Support Sports Scholars via mentoring and coaching
5. To coach a cricket or tennis team in the Summer term, including Saturday fixtures
6. To support the delivery of PE lessons at the Prep and Senior School, when required
7. To support whole school events for the Sports Department including Swimming Galas, Sports Days, Cross Country & Scholarship days, when required
8. To be able to attend all Pre Season training and any potential Sports Tours
9. To be a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage young people to participate in hockey activity
10. To manage and maintain school equipment, and report any loss or damage to the Head of Hockey/Director of Sport
11. To maintain a current knowledge of school policies and practices, and to agree to abide by a code of conduct and carry out duties in accordance with school policies, including equal opportunities, child protection, Health and Safety, etc

12. To attend meetings with school staff members, as and when required

- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people for whom you are responsible, and with whom you come into contact
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
- Be aware of support and ensure equal opportunities for all
- Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
- Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
- Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
- Assist with pupil needs as appropriate during the school day

**Salary**: £17.18-£24.06 per hour
