**Permanent Assertive Outreach Worker**

**Job Description.**

You must have a full driving licence for a minimum of 2 years.

You must be able to work to the Welcome’s ethos of acceptance and delivering services unconditionally.

**Salary**: £22,369 - £24,054 Njc pt 7-11 or (Pro Rata for Part Time).

**Part Time** - Saturday and Sunday - 17 hours per week, Outreach operate 4 different shift patterns that cover the hours 7am - 3am

**Main Duties and Tasks**

To reduce rough sleeping in Belfast by meaningful engagement with new and entrenched Rough Sleepers many of whom have complex and multiple needs. The Assertive Outreach Worker will work as part of a team on shift basis enabling Rough Sleepers to access, appropriate accommodation and support services which will help them to move on from the street.

**Street Work.**
- Identify and engage with people who are potentially sleeping rough in order to verify them as Rough Sleepers.
- Develop effective relationships with Rough Sleepers both new and entrenched making efforts to break down barriers with those who are reluctant to access support and accommodation.
- Provide targeted, intensive, and personalised outreach support which results in people being able to move on from rough sleeping.
- Work in partnership with other agencies including Primary health Care, Drug Outreach Team, and Housing Executive ensuring a multi-disciplinary approach.
- Ensure Rough Sleepers have their basic needs met i.e. food, clothing, washing etc.
- Effectively communicate within and between teams to ensure follow up work is acted upon.
- Assess and respond to requests from emergency services (code 7’s) and the public in relation to potential Rough Sleepers or vulnerably housed people who need assistance.
- Prevent rough sleeping by engaging with people who have accommodation and a ‘street lifestyle i.e. begging, street drinking etc. and liaise with relevant housing support services to ensure their accommodation is sustained.
- Engage in street counts.
