**Job Purpose**
The appointee will play a significant role in the Community Oral Health section research group and will be involved in the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Dental Public Health, patient management and health promotion. This group has a leading role in the delivery of teaching and training in relation to communication, equality diversity & inclusion, and sustainability. The postholder will be expected to participate fully in the management of the Section of Community Oral Health, including involvement in agenda setting and the development of strategy at a high level within the Dental School. The focus of the post will have a dual focus on Research and Learning & Teaching. In addition, applicants will be expected to perform the duties of an Honorary Consultant in Dental Public Health.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**-2. To develop research projects and collaborations at a local, national and international level.
4. To lead on oral and written dissemination of study findings to both internal, national and international academic and wider audiences by documenting research results for inclusion in peer-reviewed papers, reports, and presentations, thus enhancing the profile of the research.
5. To attract and supervise postgraduate PhD students.
6. To supervise undergraduate and taught postgraduate student research projects.
7. To lead the design and delivery of a range of teaching, assessment and feedback activities in Community Oral Health, Patient Management & Health Promotion and Dental Public Health in an environment that promotes scholarly learning for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught students, in accordance with the teaching objectives of the Dental School.
8. To be responsible for developing creative and innovative approaches to learning and teaching, ensuring that the quality of educational opportunities available to undergraduate and postgraduate taught students is continually enhanced.
9. To participate in the ongoing development and review of both undergraduate and postgraduate curricula.
10. To provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support learning.
11. To contribute, at a high level, to the management of the Section of Community Oral Health.
12. To undertake senior administrative duties associated with the delivery of research, teaching and the academic management of the Dental School and wider School of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing as determined by the Head of Section, Director of Dental Education and Head of the Dental School.
13. To undertake the clinical duties as an Honorary Consultant in Dental Public Health, as agreed in annual joint University / NHS job planning.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**
A1 Registrable qualification with the General Dental Council. A2 Eligible for inclusion on the GDC Specialist List in Dental Public Health or within 6 months of eligibility for inclusion. A3 Higher Research Degree.
A4 Possession of a CCST in Dental Public Health, or within 6 months of eligibility to receive this.

**Desirable**
B1 Fellowship in Dental Surgery or MFDS from one of the Royal Surgical Colleges. B2 Hold, working towards or willing to complete within two years, a certificate in Academic Practice, or equivalent learning and teaching qualification.

E9 Experience in academic assessment of undergraduate dental students. E10 Evidence of continuing scholarship.

**Terms and Conditions**
An honorary consultant contract will be applied for from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, with an associated salary from
£91,474 - £121,548 per annum on the New Consultant Contract (NCC) Scotland. Further payments may be made by the NHS for clinical activity e.g. a clinical EPA, Discretionary Points, Merit Award and/or Availability Supplement, if eligible.
