Transport Assistant (Operations)
PURPOSE OF JOB: Contribute to the delivery of services for area of responsibility. Assist, as appropriate, with: - Providing an integrated approach to performance management, quality standards and service delivery - Embedding new ways of thinking and working - Developing and maintaining strong, positive working relationships with commissioners, their teams/partners and across service areas as appropriate To provide day to day support, advice and guidance to the provider team(s) and/or work within own area of responsibility To assist in the commissioning, delivery, coordination and promotion of transport services and related project work at operational level. Continuously look for synergies and efficiency savings across area of responsibility
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS & DUTIES The specific accountabilities of this role will be flexible and will change to meet the needs of the organisation as required but will include (or be equivalent in nature to) those listed below:
Assist with the procurement of passenger transport services for local bus, children's and adults clients.
ii Maintain evaluative passenger transport and related databases including SEATS, inspection, timetables, contracts and tendering, incident reporting, Max Respect and information packs.
iii Assist with contract and day-to-day administration, invoice ratification, contractor performance issues, pupil conduct issues, and the tendering and procurement process.
iv Liaison with contractors, suppliers, schools, parents, public and other Directorates, on a broad range of operational requirements and to:
- Obtain information to assist line management decision making.
- Provide information and guidance on operational transport issues.
viii Administer Post 16 payment function.
ix To participate effectively in the development of the Group and its activities
x Assist with event management e.g. driver workshops, stakeholder engagement
xi Required to provide assistance at any time (including out of normal office hours) and at any place in the County during emergency situations.
xii - Providing day to day leadership as appropriate to deliver the agreed priorities, working collaboratively with commissioning teams. - Coach/mentor teams/colleagues as appropriate to embed new ways of thinking and working - Maximising the impact of resources and value for money to achieve improved outcomes for the Council - Ensure effective performance management to deliver outcomes in line with service delivery contracts - Provide expert advice and guidance as appropriate for own area of expertise. - Deliver a personal portfolio of projects and/or specific work - Demonstration of the Council's Core Abilities (at the relevant level)

xiv Contribute to work with commissioners/partners to ensure a robust approach to data analysis and forecasting
xv Contribute to the Council's statutory obligations and where appropriate any national and local performance indicators
xvi Ensure the way in which resources within the area of responsibility are managed reflects the agreed culture and style and standing orders of the County Council.
xvii Operate frameworks for Quality Assurance, using agreed appropriate performance standards and review processes with commissioners, and monitor delivery against commissioned requirements
xviii Ensure Council resources are optimised and utilised effectively and efficiently. xix
Look to continuously improve services in area of responsibility, identifying where possible, value for money savings and managing within allocated budgets.
xx Act as a role model to others helping them to manage uncertainty and to respond positively and creatively to changing expectations.
xxi Contribute to the development of individuals across the Council coaching, mentoring and motivating staff to achieve performance excellence.
